A young New England farmer casually swears that he would sell his soul for a better life. As a result he must now deal with the Devil played by Walter Huston. Huston does a magnificent job as the witty and cunning Devil. Financial success transforms the good-hearted Jabez Stone into a cold-blooded businessman and only the great statesman, lawyer Daniel Webster (Edward Arnold) can save Stone. This fine and intriguing film will keep viewers interest as the plot unfolds, where rich drama and detail are played out.
