Judas

Paramount   2004
Length 95 minutes in Color
Rated R  Violence

This fine film explores the truth of the New Testament’s most crushing betrayal and probably the most known in all of history. Judas Iscariot, a lower-class wine-seller who resents the brutal treatment of his people by the occupying Romans is ecstatic to learn that a Messiah named Jesus of Nazareth has begun preaching love and peace despite the risk of persecution. Judas does not understand that Christ’s mission on earth is to spread the word of God and the message of peace. Despite this Judas attempts to convince Jesus to lead the rebellion against the Romans. He fails to do so as Jesus states once again, that he is here for peace.

This makes way for one of the greatest moments of history, where Jewish leaders later convince Judas of the greater good in betraying Jesus. Out of frustration, Judas decides to turn over his friend and leader to Caiaphus and Pontius Pilate who condemn Jesus to death.

This is an excellent film which depicts the life and relationships Judas had as an apostle.
