Martin Sheen stars in this fine drama about the wise physician who was late for the birth of the Savior. This disappointed traveler then embarks on a very lengthy pilgrimage to find the Christ child with his reluctant slave in tow. Both men journey through years of searching and sacrifice and the duo acquire a unique wisdom from their enduring experiences. This moving film not only entertains, but can be utilized to educate students on a series of worthy virtues.
